George Perry Matteson, known as "Bub" to his immediate family, was a resident of Boynton Beach, FL, at the age of 84.

Born on December 15, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY, he relocated to Long Island, NY, in 1953. He spent his childhood summers at his uncle’s hunting camp in the Adirondack Mountains, accompanied by his parents and sister. George had a lifelong appreciation for Elvis Presley and music from the 1950s and 1960s, as well as an enthusiasm for muscle cars and his formative years on Long Island.

Following the sudden passing of his father in 1956, George assumed the role of "man of the house" at age thirteen. In 1969, he was deployed to a combat zone in Vietnam, where he distinguished himself with numerous medals, including a marksman star and a Bronze Star.

After his military service, George married and became the proud father of two daughters, Nicole and Heather. The love for his daughters Nicole and Heather never faltered during the rest of his life.

George is remembered for his courage, loyalty, strength, and notable sense of humor. He will be fondly missed by his niece, Donna LaChance-Grice (Jim), and nephews Sean Lane (Sari) and Corey Lane. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy LaChance, and nephew, James LaChance.

A Committal Service with Military Honors will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, at 10:00 am at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 S. State Road 7, Lake Worth, Florida (Lane 5).
