George Edward Manning, 96, of Boynton Beach, Florida, and Marstons Mills, passed away on July 23, 2023. Born in Newton, he was the son of the late Mary (Cilley) and John Manning. He was the loving husband of 56 years of the late Irene Bray Manning.
After service in the United States Navy during WW II, he attended Boston University and graduated with his B. S. Degree in Business Administration. His career began at Arthur Andersen (Boston) until his retirement as a Partner of Emerging Business. George continued to be active as a business consultant and engaged civic appointee. He was a passionate Catholic and parishioner. He served as a Trustee and Board Member of Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange for several years. An avid golfer, he enjoyed the game with memberships at Brae Burn, Quail Ridge, and Oyster Harbors country clubs.
He is survived by his six children: Michael; Karen Bustin; C. Dianne and her partner Kristin Hueter; Peter and his wife Karen; Richard and his former spouse Elizabeth “Betsy”; and David and his wife Roxanna “Roxy”.
George was the loving grandfather of 9 grandchildren, Lisa Adams (husband Jon), Jennifer Bustin, Susan Grimme (husband Mitchell), Allison Manning, Daniel Manning, Mark Gately, Nicholas Manning, and Bray Manning. He was the proud great-grandfather of Emma Adams.
He is predeceased by his siblings, James, John, and Catherine Manning, Anna Patterson, Mary Kiley, Gertrude Barry, Rev. Justinian Manning, Bertha Bushey, Elizabeth “Betty” Neville, William Manning and by his grandson, David Bustin. Visiting hours at the Chapman Funeral Home 3778 Falmouth Road (RT 28) Marstons Mills, MA 02648 will be at 10 AM on August 7, 2023 followed by a 12 PM Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 76 Wianno Ave, Osterville, MA 02655. Immediately following Mass, there will be a ceremony at The Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Buzzards Bay, MA 02542.
