George Victor Johnston Jr., 82, of Boynton Beach passed away peacefully in his home on May 16, 2023.
He was born in New York City, NY on August 16, 1940, son to the late George Sr. and Elizabeth Johnston. George is survived by his wife Rosemarie (Roie), daughters Angel Darlene and Shelly (Mark) Finkelstein. He is also survived by his older sister Irene (Richard) Moniz, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
George was preceded in death by his son, George Victor III, his mother, Elizabeth Johnston; father, George Victor Johnston Sr., and sister Alexandra (Sandy) Kelly.
George married his true love, Rosemarie Barbarisi on June 11, 1961 in Astoria NY.
He graduated from William Cullen Bryant HS in Queens, NY. He also attended college at Farmingdale State College, NY.
George started his career at Stanley Elevator, but spent the majority of his time at Otis Elevator Company. He worked for Otis from 1968 to his retirement in 1999. He had many “up and down” adventures climbing up to the top of some of the tallest buildings and bridges in Manhattan, NY.
George and Roie were “snowbirds”, spending their summers in Glen Spey, NY where he was a loyal member of the Elks Club, Local 645. George was an avid car enthusiast and treasured his Camaro. He was a proud NRA member and enjoyed his freedom of the second amendment. He was truly a jack of all trades; there was nothing he couldn’t fix.
George was a true American who loved his family, country and freedom.
Visitation at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home in Boynton Beach on Monday, May 22nd from 4 to 7 p.m.
A funeral will be held at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Delray Beach on Tuesday, May 23rd at 11:00 a.m.
