George Comerford

GEORGE EMERY COMERFORD George was born in West Palm Beach, FL on June 5, 1928. He was the son of Wesley Patrick Comerford and Mary Owens. George is survived by his wife, Donna Jean Comerford, son, William Chester, (Lisa) Comerford of Jacksonville, son, Joel Mason (Marci) Comerford of Boca Raton and Amy Lynn (Shane) Whaley of Port St. Lucie. He was predeceased by his son, James Russell Comerford of Mississippi. His grandchildren include Christine, Michael, Courtney, Lauren, Dillon, Taylor and great-grandson, Carson. George served in the Korean War and when he returned home he worked for Bell South and retired after 45 years of service. He also served as a delegate in 5 Democratic National Conventions. He served 6 years as president of Local 3112 of the CWA. He was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers, Rare Fruit Council and the Poultry Club. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM to service time at 12 Noon on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, corner of US Hwy. #1 & NE 15th Ave., Boynton Beach. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL. Contributions in his memory may be made to A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue, Inc.
