Eugene (Gene) John Zirkel
Gene was a wonderful man who was much loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Gene’s story starts on December 2, 1931, the fifth child to George and Frances Zirkel, who raised him in Queens Village NY. It was here some 36 years later that he met the love of his life and later his wife, Patricia McCormick.
Gene was a teacher, both as his profession at Nassau Community College as well as in life, to many of those lucky enough to have spent time with him either as students, or as friends, or as those who sought his advice. His subjects were many including how to count in dozens, advanced statistics, using positive thinking to improve your life and so many more. He had a lot to offer and gave of his time and knowledge generously.
Gene was also deeply committed to his family. He threw amazing parties, picnics, and celebrations frequently. Keeping a very large extended family together and connected was something he took a lot of joy in doing. He took extreme pride in his son George and son-in-law Jodan, who along with Pat his wife of 50 years, and his brothers Jerry and Don, survive him.
Gene passed away on Tuesday, April 2 at the age of 87.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2929 South Seacrest Boulevard, Boynton Beach, FL 33435.
