Eunice Amelia Silvey was born June 3, 1930 in Akron Ohio. She fell asleep in death on January 29, 2022. She was 91 years old.
Eunice married Kenneth Allen Silvey on June 18, 1948 in Akron, Ohio. They had been married 48 years when Kenneth preceded her in death on August 1, 1996.
Eunice and Ken had six children. First they had 3 daughters, Susan, Pamela and Karen followed by 3 sons, Mark, Brian and Bradley. They lost their daughter Pamela Denise in death when she was 5 years old.
Eunice was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses along with her husband Ken in 1958 in the Atlantic Ocean off New York City, while attending an International Convention at Yankee Stadium and Polo Grounds. She was a faithful witness of Jehovah God for 64 years.
Eunice, her husband and five children moved from Akron, Ohio to Lapeer, Michigan in 1959 when Ken got a job transfer. Four of the five children went from big city school rooms to a one-room country School of 28 students K-6. They remember walking home in the deep snow and mom having hot chocolate ready for them.
They attended the Lapeer Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses where she supported Ken as the Congregation Overseer.
In the summer of 1963, the entire family did a three-week camping road trip from Michigan to California to attend the 8-day Around the World Convention held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. They traveled in a camper, built by Ken, one week to get there, with many adventures along the way, including the two girls sleeping in the car near Yellowstone. Some bears were raiding the garbage cans that night, but the kids slept through it. Ken spent one night sleeping in a folding chaise lounge chair in a corn field. They had arrangements to stay with a Witness family in Pasadena, but got lost the night they arrived, so spent the first night on the grounds of the Rose Bowl! Their daughter Susan was baptized at this Convention.
In 1971 they moved to Otisville, Michigan where Ken served as Congregation Overseer. She supported her husband so he could serve as an Elder and regular pioneer. And she regular pioneered also. In 1977 they moved to Tampa, Florida. They stayed there for a couple of years before moving to Lake Worth.
Eunice loved to travel. Her and Ken traveled to Scotland and England, the place where Eunice’s mother was born. Some of the spiritual adventures included going to Nebraska to work in seldom worked territory. Eunice said there were hundreds and hundreds of grass-hopers everywhere! Al and Perc Andrews of Lapeer had moved to Guatemala to serve where the need was great, and Ken and Eunice spent some months there engaging in the preaching work. The Taylor’s, Chuck and Yvonne, owned a small plane and the 4 of them would all fly to various Caribbean islands to preach. Once they almost got shot down because of entering Cuban air space.
After Ken’s death she did more traveling and enjoyed many cruises. She traveled to Rome, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Munich, Austria, Salzburg, the Panama Canal, Nova Scotia, Canada, San Francisco, Maine, Massachusetts, and a ski trip to Colorado. She was 67 when she had her first ski lesson. She didn’t get much ski time with her lesson as she began witnessing to her instructor on the slope! She visited New York Bethels, London Bethel, and Prague Bethel. She also took a trip to England, Wales and Scotland with Susan and Clair.
Eunice worked secularly many years as a Legal Assistant at a prominent law firm. At the age of 57, she obtained a degree as a Certified Legal Assistant. She worked until she was 74 years old and retired from working for a Professional Legal Guardian.
Eunice loved Jehovah and was spiritually active up until her death. She regular pioneered and vacation pioneered (as it used to be called) on and off over the years. Back in the 1960s, Eunice was used as a Magazine Servant at the Kingdom Hall, because of a lack of brothers. And on occasion was used to conduct the Book Study in one of the homes also because of a lack of brothers.
Even in her last few years when she needed to get around with a walker, she was able on many occasions to share in the cart work as her walker had a seat. She did phone witnessing many years before it became necessary during Covid. During Covid, she had physical therapists and nurses come to her house. She always wanted to have magazines and tracts available, and she placed many with them.
Eunice is survived by her children, Susan and husband Clair Wilson, Karen and husband David Brown, Mark and (ex-wife Ann “Wease” (deceased)) Silvey, Brian and wife Julie Silvey and Bradley and wife Laurianne Silvey.

Comments From Family Members:
Kind, sweet and generous
She was generous, kind and loving. The Watchtower said Eunice means conqueror! She was brave, adventurous, and always ready to try something new. She tried to give attention to all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, which was a feat, considering how many she had. I should add, of course faithful.
If you wanted to see an example of a submissive wife, she would be an excellent example of a role model for sisters.
Dad was the first fiddle and mom was second, and it never bothered her.
When mom conducted the Book Study, because there were not enough brothers (years ago), us kids misbehaved. She threatened to give us a spanking with a plastic belt. We laughed. Then she would say, I’ll just wait until your father gets home. We would miraculously straighten up!
Sweet, loving, Kind to all, classy lady, generous, beautiful smile and laugh. She loved to travel and loved Jehovah.
