Emil Skocik, Age 100 of Boynton Beach, Florida went to heaven on September 2, 2024 after a long, blessed and fulfilling life. He thoroughly enjoyed seeing his whole family together for his 100th birthday celebration.


He was born August 12th, 1924 in Clarksburg, WV to Frank and Genevieve Gombarcik Skocik. He grew up in Warren, Ohio and graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1942. He met his wife Eileen Eaton and they were married November 23, 1946. Emil and Eileen moved to Niles, Ohio where they raised their 6 children. Emil was an electrician by trade and worked at U.S. Steel and Packard Electric where he retired in 1989. After moving to Girard, Ohio, Emil and Eileen wintered in Boynton Beach where they eventually moved.


Emil and Eileen were very active at their beloved Sterling Village Community in Florida and enjoyed many activities there. Emil was key in the expansion of the putting green and the activities of the Putting Club. He was a perfectionist and excelled at many sports. He was a great baseball player and also enjoyed bowling and horseshoes. In Florida, he mastered putting and enjoyed winning his share of leagues. He and Eileen also enjoyed ballroom dancing and found many new places to dance in south Florida .


He is survived by 5 children. Carol (Dominic) Buzzaco, Ellen (Dick) Bosel, David (Sandy) Skocik, Mary Longberry, Chris (Monesa) Skocik. Daughter in law Terri Skocik, 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.


He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Eileen who passed away May 8, 2015 after 68 years of marriage, son Michael Skocik and son-in-law John Longberry. He is also predeceased by his brothers Luke, Albert and Frank.


Emil was able to spend his final years at home with wonderful care by his daughter Mary Longberry.


Emil was a devout Catholic and went to St. Marks Church in Boynton Beach. He will be interred at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland, Ohio in a private family service at a future date.
