Age 96, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in Wellington, Florida.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie (1975) and Annie Marie (Williams) Melton (1992) and her eldest son, Roland Parker (Kay) (2014).
She is survived by her sons, Phillip Parker (Donna) and Larry Atchison (Holley); grandchildren, Carrie (Paul) Wilt, Robin (Russ) Rucci, Natasha (Mark) Nuttbrock, Matthew (Meagan) Parker, Larry Paul Atchison, Jeannie (Chris) Reed and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kaylee, Chloe, Kennedy, Violet, Matthew, Jake, CJ, Max and Alex.
Ella was born near Plant City, Florida in Knights Station, but grew up on Crooked Lake in Lake Wales, later marrying and ultimately living in Boynton Beach in Palm Beach County. Ella raised three sons with help of her parents and was educated as a bookkeeper and entrepreneur. She later took a job at the small but growing Bethesda Memorial Hospital holding numerous hospital financial positions and enjoying a long career until her final retirement in 1991.
During her many years in Boynton, she developed many friendships, was the Treasurer for the area Cub Scouts and enjoyed visiting family both near or in other parts of Florida. She was a proud Floridian of several generations and enjoyed visiting family in Tampa, Lake Wales and other parts of the Sunshine State.
Friends will be received at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, 599 N.E. 15th Ave., Boynton Beach on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. A Committal Service and burial will follow in Palm Beach Memorial Park, 3691 Seacrest Blvd, Lantana, Florida.
