Mrs. Eleanor Shepard Costello died peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Hamlin Place in Boynton Beach, Florida, on July 12, 2017, at the age of 93.
Eleanor is survived by her children: Steven Costello and his wife, Theresa, of Coconut Creek, FL; Ronelle Stankus of Oakville, CT; Danielle Dionne and her husband, Philip, of Waterbury, CT; and Marie Govan and her husband, David, of Waterbury, CT. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Edward Costello, Cassie Cote, John Mowad, Brian Stankus, Nicholas Stankus, and Jeanna Silviera, as well as 7 great grandchildren, and several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Francis (Fran) Costello, her daughter, Lynn Costello of Uncasville, CT, and her husband of 5 years, Earl (Bud) Clark, whose daughters Beth Pape, Cindy Shufflebarger, and Maggie Starkey, she held as her own.
Eleanor, born on September 2, 1923, in Waterbury, CT., was an avid reader and accomplished Pinochle player. She was a generous and dedicated woman who loved her family and was passionate about volunteering in both Waterbury and, especially, Palm Beach Leisureville, in which she took on responsibilities with their C.O.P. as well as their Pinochle, Euchre and Hymn Sing Programs.
A private celebration of her life will be held at a future date, to be determined by the family.
