EDWARD CARL (CAPTAIN EDDIE) SCHNABEL, III
Age 84 of Lake Worth passed away April 5, 2016. He was born and raised in Delray Beach. Eddie went to work for the old Del-Trail Fire Department that later became P.B.C. Fire Rescue where he retired as a Captain. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Eddie loved walking on the beach and swimming in the ocean with his family.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elsie; daughter, Rachel (Gary) Smith; son, Carl (Julie) Schnabel; granddaughter, Jennifer (Pat) Carnahan; grandson, Matthew Schnabel; 4 great grandchildren, Meghan, Chloe, Zoey (Mitiz) and Patrick (Buckaroo); brother, Charles Schnabel; sister, Ann and was predeceased by his sister, Hazel Smith. He is also survived by his best friend Dwight (Chico) Bradshaw, fellow firefighters and faithful dog, Blaze.
Friends will be received from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, corner of US Hwy. #1 & NE 15th Ave., Boynton Beach. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Delray Beach Memorial Gardens.
