EDWARD K. ALLEN SR.
age 86 of Boynton Beach passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. Chief Allen joined the Boynton Beach Fire Department as a volunteer in 1966, becoming full time in 1969, appointed Fire Chief in 1985 and retired in 1994. He and his wife Louise were original parishioners of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Boynton Beach and he served as an usher for over 50 years. He was also Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, St. Mark Council #12414 and a Fourth Degree Knight and Past Faithful Navigator of the Andrew Doherty Assembly #1055.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Louise; 3 children, Mary and her husband, Michael Munro; Edward K. Allen Jr. and his wife, Karen and David Allen and his wife, Melanie; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law, Ileana Lolatte, Marilyn Butler and Dolores Schlump; and brother-in-law, Anthony Tambasco.
Friends will be received Thursday from 5-7 PM at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, corner of U.S. Hwy. #1 & N.E. 15th Ave., Boynton Beach. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 7, 2017 at 1:00 PM at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 643 St. Mark Place, Boynton Beach. A Committal Service with Military Honors will follow at the Boynton Beach Memorial Park. Those who wish may make donations to TrustBridge Hospice in Chief Allen’s memory.
