EDNA A. O’HARE
Age 98, formerly of Boynton Beach passed away June 1, 2016.
Edna was born in Patterson, NJ, but soon moved to Croton, NJ. Her favorite stories were about living on the "farm halfway up the mountainside!" During World War II, she worked for General Motors for a period of time. After the war, she married husband, Larry. They reared 3 children in Westfield, NJ and were married for 55 years. After retiring to Florida, they settled at High Point in Boynton Beach where she was involved in crafts and the women's auxiliary. She prepared many a St. Patrick's Day feast for the entire clubhouse! Edna loved to garden, knit, crochet, swim in the ocean and visit with family and friends. She was an active member of the women's group at St. Mark's Parish where she helped make clothing items for newborns in need and showed up every Thursday to help clean the church. She later lived at Newport in Boynton Beach before moving to Prosperity Oaks in Palm Beach Gardens. Edna had a lively imagination and was known for poetic saying such as: "The water in the lake is sparkling like it was just born," "The screen is sprinkled with moisture because Mother Nature is sitting on the window sill," and "If you have enough money to buy ice cream whenever you want it, that's enough money!" She died peacefully at Lakeside Health Center where she was lovingly cared for by a dedicated team of caretakers. Edna was both determined and charming and will be missed by those she touched.
Edna is survived by her son, James (Diane) O’Hare; 2 daughters, Mary Ellen Johnson and Joanne (Tom) Jacobsen; 8 grandchildren, Michael, Kelly, Emily, Matthew, Ehren, Jeremy, Hannah, Rebecca and her great grandchildren, Skylar, Ben, Ophelia, Kaia, Everett, Zephyr and Phoenix.
A Cryptside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Boynton Beach Mausoleum, 1611 S. Seacrest Blvd., Boynton Beach, FL.
