DORIS A. SMITH
Sadly, we announce the passing of Doris A. Smith, 86 a resident of Boynton Beach, Florida who died surrounded by her family on December 7, 2021. Doris was born in New Jersey on March 17, 1935 and raised in Linden, NJ. After graduating from Linden High School in 1952, Doris attended Douglas College in New Brunswick, NJ as an economic major and subsequently became one of the first women to attend class at adjoining Rutgers University. After graduating in 1956 from Douglas College, she embarked on a lengthy tour of Europe returning to NJ and engaging in two employments: Lockheed and Esso. Doris then relocated to Los Angeles, California where she became employed by Walt Disney Companies and, after 25 years of service, she retired in 1993 as the first female Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Disney Companies. During her lifetime, Doris enjoyed many travel adventures and was an avid crossword puzzler, card player, and reader but her passion after retirement was her love for the slots. The Hard Rock and Seminole Casinos will miss her greatly. After retirement, she moved to Boynton Beach to care for her elderly father, Arthur T. Smith, Sr., until his death in July 2001. Doris is also predeceased by her mother, Mildred Traina Smith and survived by her brother Arthur T. Smith Jr. and sister-in-law, Eleanore P. Smith of Brick, NJ together with her nieces and nephews; Karen A. Feins of Iselin, NJ, Stephanie P. Smith of Lake Worth, FL, Kyle T. Smith and Betty Smith of Madison Heights, VA, Scott A. Smith of Keansburg, NJ and grand-nephew Steven W. Feins, of N. Plainfield, NJ.
Friends will be received at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, 599 N.E. 15th Avenue, Boynton Beach, Florida on Monday, December 13, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a Prayer Service to be held at 3:00 PM.
