Donna “Jean” Mason Comerford, age 87, of Florida, peacefully
passed away Wednesday, May 5 at Hospice By The Sea, Boca
Raton. Jean was originally from Columbus, Ohio and moved to
the Palm Beach area with her family in 1952. Jean worked for
FPL. She met and married George, her husband of 55 years and they enjoyed a lifetime of family, friends and Florida wildlife. Their
homestead in Palm Beach County and their travels throughout
Florida fostered Jean’s love of nature. Her daily routine of
sitting on her porch watching her beloved bunnies and birds,
which she tended to daily, gave her a special joy. Later in life,
while making drives across the country, Jean fell in love with the
majesty of the West. Her favorite stops were Durango, Sedona
and Tucumcari.
Jean was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, George E.
Comerford and James “Rusty“ Comerford. Survivors
include her son Joel (Marci) Comerford of Boca Raton, daughter
Amy (Shane) Whaley of Port St Lucie; Chet (Lisa) Comerford of Jacksonville; sister Clara Jo Hutchison, her grandchildren,
Christine (Ryan) Ederer, Courtney Honeycutt, Lauren
Comerford, Dillon Honeycutt, Angela Franz, Michael
(Kourtney) Meredith, Taylor Meredith; great grandchildren
Carson, Braxton, Brian, Logan, Hayden, Grayson, Owen, Harper and
many nieces and nephews.
Those who had the pleasure of meeting Jean found her to be
warm and easy to be with as she was a stranger to no one and a light
in every room. Her loving family and many friends will dearly
miss Jean.
A funeral service in memory of Jean will be held on Wednesday,
May 12 at 12 PM at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, 599 N.E. 15th Avenue, Boynton Beach. Burial will be at the South Florida National Cemetery
