Dennis Joseph Listort
August 11, 1946 — May 9, 2023
Dennis Joseph Listort passed away peacefully of pancreatic cancer on May 9, 2023, with his beloved daughters at his side.
He leaves behind his daughters, Resa and Cynthia (Rhett Weires), of whom he was very proud, stepchildren, Stephen Duffie (Rachel James) and Allison Duffie, his sister, Linda Carlucci, grandsons Maximilian, Jedidiah, Rhys, Beckett Weires, Aidan Steinberg, and Henry Duffie, granddaughters Madeline and Caitlyn Duffie, his favorite nephew, Kevin Carlucci, Sr., nieces Jennifer Hart (Robert S. Hart Jr), Christine Coombes (Charlie Diaz), and Michele Stahle, as well as many grand-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, Darilyn Stahl Listort, in October 2022.
Dennis strove to be an excellent teacher, assistant principal, and principal over the course of his educational career. He came in contact with over 2700 students as a teacher and worked diligently to instill a love of words, reading, and writing in his charges.
Dennis was chosen to participate in the DIAD (Delivery Information Acquisition Device) development program with UPS from its inception, helping to improve both hardware and software for the machine.
Dennis published five novels including his mother-in-law's memoirs. He constructed multiple crossword puzzles that were published in the New York Times, and published many poems, articles, and short stories over the course of his lifetime.
His only regret was that he was unable to give more of himself to those he loved.
