David Rene, 64, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022, after several months of declining health.
David was born on December 27, 1957, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to the late Fernand Rene and the late Flavie Delbrun. With David being the eldest of three children, he had to lead by example for his siblings. After he graduated from high school, he was granted the opportunity to study abroad in Africa on a full scholarship to become a lawyer. However, after completing two years of education, his scholarship was stripped away from him because of the change in government. As a result, he traveled to the United States in 1986.
David met Yolande Lemorin Rene while they were in middle school and later married her in 1990. Together they raised four beautiful children—Nativita Lemorin, Dave Rene, Chrisley Antoine Rene, and Henrico Bellerive. David was employed at Lynn University for over 10 years, and during his free time he enjoyed hanging out with friends, cracking jokes, and working on cars. To the outside world, David was very quiet and shy, but to those who knew him best, he was a jokester—especially with his sister-in-law Madelaine. Even when ill, David used humor to lift his spirits and to keep pushing forward.
David was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He was known for his sense of humor, supportiveness, and kindness. David touched the lives of so many people in such a short time, and his children were his pride and joy. His children describe him as resilient and compassionate, and there was no denying that he always had their back, right or wrong. They could talk to their dad for hours—having long heart to heart conversations, where David would share his words of wisdom, encouragement, and advice. Their favorite activity was to go and hang out at the beach together. He was a very hard-working and very supportive father—he was very proud of whatever they accomplished in life. To his beloved family, his nickname was Da, short for dad because many of his nieces and nephews considered him a second father.
David was preceded in death by his parents Fernand Rene and Flavie Delbrun and his son Chrisley Antoine Rene. He is survived by his wife Yolande Lemorin Rene; children Nativita Lemorin, Dave Rene, and Henrico Bellerive; son-in-law Gerald Casimir; daughter-in-law Gicardine Rene; grand-child Erick Casimir; mother-in-law Saintilia Camille; brother Joel Delbrun; sister Elizabeth Rene; brother-in-law Victor Francois; sisters-in-law Ghislaine Lemorin, Gladys Lemorin, Madeleine Lemorin, Marie Amazan, and Valerie Delbrun; nieces and nephews Alexis Delbrun, Esther Delbrun, Vicot Francois, Barbara Francois, Kerbi Francois, Coeurby Placide, Godnela Latus, Nisha Brice, Asheley Calixte, Rodney Calixte, Eudgy Delcy, Carly Delcy, Christian Delcy, Marie Daudin, Islande Daudin, Edson Daudin, and Nicole Desir.
