On November 2nd, 2022, Cynthia (Cindi) Freeburn passed away two days shy of her 66th birthday. She is survived by her husband, David Freeburn, sons Derek and Christopher (Jiraschya) Freeburn, daughter Chelsea Freeburn, and brother, Michael Doner. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Floyd and Barbara (Brenner) Doner. Cindi also leaves behind an extended family of nieces, nephews, and cherished grand-nephews and nieces.
Cindi was born on November 4th, 1956, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She was the firstborn child of Floyd and Barbara Doner and only sister of Mike Doner. Cindi spent her youth in Ephrata, Pennsylvania where she was passionate about scholastic pursuits and music. She attended Ithaca College (‘78), earned a degree in music education, and also met her husband of 43 years, David.
Cindi and David married in 1979 and made their first home in Harleysville, Pennsylvania. In 1982, Cindi gave birth to her first son, Derek, and gained her favorite title — "Mom." In 1987, she welcomed a second son, Chris, and in 1990, a daughter, Chelsea. Cindi loved raising her children in the tight-knit community on Seedling Drive in Holland, Pennsylvania, where she made many life-long friends.
Cindi briefly worked as a music teacher before beginning a career of more than 30 years in the bridal industry. She spent 25 years at Alfred Angelo and several years with David's Bridal. She worked for TV commerce pioneer QVC before deciding to "semi-retire" and start a golf cart rental business, Exhilaride, in Delray Beach, Florida. Upon moving to Delray Beach full-time in 2014, Cindi immersed herself in the city's local politics. She firmly believed in preserving the charm of the "village by the sea" she loved so very much.
A two-time breast cancer survivor, Cindi was best known for her genuine warmth, selfless generosity, kindness, and thoughtfulness. She lived to serve others and worked tirelessly to shape the world into the good place she knew it could be.
Memorial services will be held in Palm Beach County, Florida at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Delray Beach, FL on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 6 PM and in Bucks County, Pennsylvania (TBD). Locations, dates and times will be announced on Cindi's Facebook page in the coming days:
