Christopher James Huth, aged 74, of Boynton Beach passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 10, 2024. Born in Passaic, NJ, Chris moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL at a young age. He enlisted in the Marines at age 17 and was deployed to Vietnam in 1968 where he was awarded the Cross of Gallantry for heroic duty. Chris was honorably discharged and returned to New York, where he discovered an affinity for land surveying. It was while on a surveying job in Ellenville, NY, over a Truck Driver's Special, that Chris met his wife of 45 years, Cathy. Together they moved back to Fort Lauderdale where Chris earned his professional land surveyor's license. Chris Huth Land Surveying was established and was the family business for more than 30 years. In 1984, he moved to Boynton Beach, FL where he and Cathy raised their five children. He was well respected and liked in his industry and had a hand in the layout of streets and neighborhoods throughout Palm Beach County.

A lover of the outdoors, Chris spent most Friday evenings with his family cooking out at Florida beaches and state parks where they often stayed past sunset, much to the chagrin of local park rangers. Chris was excellent in the water and with a snorkel. A free diver, he caught lobster by hand, wrestling them from the rocks, a skill he passed on to the kids. They spent many a day diving for lobster, feasting and laughing together around the kitchen table. Always a lover of seafood, Chris enjoyed going by the docks to pick up the day's fresh catch for dinner. Later in life he could still often be found at the Boynton Beach Inlet or working on his boat.

Chris was an active member of St Mark's Catholic Church. A lover of basketball, Chris coached the St Mark's basketball team for several years, where he is still known as Coach Huth. He also enjoyed watching the Miami Dolphins. An avid reader, Chris especially loved historical fiction and was known for always being willing to exchange books with other readers. Family and friends were touched by his gregarious nature in seeking them out at family gatherings to catch up. Funny and fun-loving, Chris had a special way with kids, willing to simply sit and meet them where they were. He spoke to kids with candor and genuine interest, endearing him to them in a special way. Cozying up and dozing in front of the TV with his grandkids was a special joy. He traveled as often as he could to visit the grandkids, of whom he was very proud, and loved to see their performances and games.

Chris is predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Ann Huth, his brother, Nick Huth, and his sister, Margie Mahoney. Chris is survived by his five children, his son Adam and wife Keirsten of Charlotte, NC, his son Tim and wife Tamara of Olympia, WA, his daughter Jackie and husband Jeff of Dallas, NC, his son Charlie and wife Amanda, of Port St Lucie, FL, his daughter Katie and husband Nick of Ft Lauderdale, FL, his 9 adoring grandchildren, his brother Charlie of New York, dozens of nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.

A memorial mass will be held at St Mark's Catholic Church in Boynton Beach on Wednesday, June 19th at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at Hurricane Alley, 529 E Ocean Ave, Boynton Beach. Donations in Chris' memory may be made to St Mark's Catholic Church, Boynton Beach, FL.
