CHARLOTTE ANN TATUM WEAVER

The world lost the sweetest, kindest daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease on August 5, 2018, in Tallahassee, Florida, with her family by her side. Charlotte Ann Tatum Weaver was born December 15, 1930 in DeLand, Florida and was a proud sixth generation Floridian. Charlotte was the beloved and only child of Charlotte “Louise” Harden Tatum and Charles Pinckney Tatum. After spending her early years in DeLand and Key West, Charlotte moved to Boynton Beach, Florida at the age of 14 where she would meet her future husband, Melvin Eugene Weaver. High school years were full of joy and adventure spent in an idyllic time in an unspoiled south Florida beach town. She made many friendships and then it was off to Florida State University to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. She joined the Alpha Chi Omega sorority where she made more lifelong friends. The love bug could not keep Charlotte and Melvin apart so they married before their senior year on September 1, 1951. Charlotte transferred to the University of Florida, where Melvin attended and they graduated together in 1952. Charlotte began her first career as a school teacher in Boynton Beach before being promoted to her lifelong career of being a wife and mother of four, grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of one. She lived out her final three years at Allegro Senior Living in Tallahassee, Florida where she could be near her three daughters as her health declined. As those who knew her would expect, Charlotte touched many lives in her new home and was a friend to all. She even reconnected with a former sorority sister, Virginia Strickland while living there. Her classy Southern style, keen wit and bridge playing talents were revered by the residents and staff alike. She is survived by her devoted daughters; Melanie Weaver Carr, Stefanie Weaver Jackson (Erwin) and Valerie Weaver Sanders (Mike) and her loving son, Matthew Tatum Weaver. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren Brenten Weaver Carr, Marcus Tyler Carr, Tatum Louise Carr, Bradley Weaver Jackson (Brittany), Brian Lee Jackson, Clinton Ronald Sanders, Olivia Grace Sanders and great grand-daughter, Finley Harper Jackson. She also leaves behind her chosen sisters Marion Weaver Clark Wester and Eva Brooks Knuth Netzler. She is predeceased by her parents Charlotte “Louise” Harden Tatum and Charles Pinckney Tatum and husband, Melvin Eugene Weaver. Donations in Charlotte’s memory can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Charlotte's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone at Big Bend Hospice who offered much love, support and compassion during time she was under their exceptional care. Visitation will take place on Friday, August 24, 2018 from 5:00 -7:00pm at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, corner of US Hwy. #1 & NE 15th Ave., Boynton Beach, Florida. The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2:00pm at St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, 3300A South Seacrest Blvd., Boynton Beach.
