CHARLES L. MEAD
84 of Boynton Beach passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 with his family by his side. Charlie immigrated from Canada in 1964 with his family and owned and operated a service station in Delray Beach for over 20 years. He enjoyed his retirement spending summers in Canada and working part-time for Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home and Beth Israel Memorial Chapel. Charlie was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Boynton Beach; Past Master of Boynton Masonic Lodge #236; Past Patron of the O.E.S., Boynton Chapter #238; Scottish Rite Temple (33rd Degree), Valley of Lake Worth and Amara Shrine Temple, Palm Bch. Gardens. He also was Past District Instructor, Past District Deputy Grand Master & Past Grand Pursuivant, all for the Grand Lodge of Florida; Past Master of Kodesh & Past Director of Works Emeritus for the Scottish Rite Temple, Valley of Lake Worth.
Charlie was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Jensen in 2008.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gladys; 5 daughters & son-in-laws, Cindy & David Lund, Mary & Robert McClory, Karen & Russell Wagner, Nancy & Wayne Miller; Kim & Jerry Hogan; 12 grandchildren, 10 ½ great grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Erick & Patricia Andersen; numerous cousins, niece &, nephews in the U.S.A., Canada and Denmark.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 235 S.W. 6th Ave., Boynton Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scottish Rite Foundation, 2000 N. “D” Street, Lake Worth, FL 33460 in Charlie’s memory.
