Catherine “Kay” (Raleigh) Murphy, 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Boynton Beach, FL on January 10. Born June 4, 1931, Kay was the only daughter of the late Michael Raleigh and Josephine (Reid) Raleigh.
When Kay was 14 years old, her family emigrated from Ireland to Yonkers, NY. She and her five brothers grew up and embraced the American Dream. In 1951, Kay married the love of her life, Joseph “Jay” Ambrose Murphy. They resided in Kings Park, NY, where they raised their four children.
In 1977, Kay and Jay moved their family to Florida, where they enjoyed the warm sunshine and beaches. Kay and Jay were happily married for 65 years; once retired, they began traveling extensively, enjoying more than 50 cruises over the years.
Most of all, Kay loved to spend time with her large Irish family. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by all those who knew her. Kay will always be remembered by her warm smile and a “sparkle” in her eye. Her family finds solace in knowing that Kay has rejoined her loving husband for eternity as they embark on a new journey together in Heaven.
