DR. BOBBY EUGENE GARRETT
passed away on July 6, 2020, at home in Boynton Beach, Florida. Bob was the son of William Ofa Garrett and Estella Ada (Smith) Garrett born in Dunbar, West Virginia on April 14, 1934. He was deeply loved by his huge network of friends and family, a kind, loving, and generous man, providing never ending support to family and friends.
Bob graduated from Elkview High School in West Virginia in 1951 and immediately entered the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War from 1951-1953 as a Navy Corpsmam and he served in the Naval Hospital in Philadelphia and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Bob comes from a family of military service. His great grandfather was William Wiley Garrett, who was a Quarter Master Sgt., who served in the West Virginia 7th Calvary during the Civil War and his 4th great grandfather, Thomas Garrett, who served during the Revolutionary War in the 11th Virginia Regiment which was commanded by Col. Daniel Morgan of the famed Morgan Rifle Company. After military service, Bob entered Lincoln College of Chiropractic, Indianapolis, Indiana, pre/post graduate work at Indiana University, Purdue, Butler University and Elizabethtown College.
He established Garrett Chiropractic Clinic in Somerset, Pennsylvania, retiring after 25 years, his home at that time in Friedens, Pennsylvania, a member of the Somerset American Legion & F.O.E. Bob shared his beloved White Horse Mountain home in Fairhope, Pennsylvania with friends and family, built by Bob, John Winters and others. It was the home of the Mountain Maikai, and the unending “committee meetings”. Time at this special home created wonderful memories for all. After retiring, Bob had Florida winter residences in Barefoot Bay, Sebastian, Florida, The Villages (2012-2018), and Boynton Beach (2018-2020)
Bob was an avid golfer, fisherman, and hiked his property on White Horse Mountain, and a huge Steelers fan. He taught his grandchildren and great grandchildren life lessons and appreciation for nature, a very important part of his life.
He was predeceased by his wife, Janet Elizabeth Bittner, married 42 years, his parents, and siblings Oshel, Bernard, Howard, Juanita, and Pauline. He is survived by his son Brett Garrett, Micco, Florida and step-son and daughter-in-law Craig and Karen Brant, Boynton Beach, Florida, grandchildren: Scott Brant, Boswell, Pennsylvania, Jason Brant, Chesapeake, Virginia, Garett Brant, Eustis, Florida, and Cassidy Brant, Boynton Beach, Florida, great grandchildren: Avery, Findley, Mason, Chase, Hannah, and Christopher.

Due to current restrictions, a memorial veteran service will be held for immediate family at 3:00 PM on Friday, October 2, 2020 in the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
