Bartholomew Joseph Musitano

Barthlomew J. Musitano, Sr.

December 9, 1943 – September 21, 2025

Bartholomew Joseph “Bart” Musitano, Sr. died on September 21, 2025, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was 81 years old.

Born in Philadelphia to Dr. Joseph and Regina Musitano, he was pre-deceased by his parents, as well as his sister, Elaine Regina Musitano.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, with whom he shared an inspiringly loving 58-year marriage, even during their recent struggles battling the same disease. “Bart and Linda”, to everyone that knows them, it always seemed inconceivable to think of one without the other.

Also surviving him are his two children and their spouses, Bartholomew, Jr. and Amy Musitano, and Gianna-Maria and Marcanthony DeLeo. Bart leaves behind four grandchildren: Nicholas (Victoria) Musitano, Alexander Musitano, Giuliana DeLeo, Marcanthony DeLeo, Jr., and a great-grandchild, Milo Musitano. They are his legacy.

Raised in Philadelphia, Bart graduated from Northeast Catholic High School, where he also returned to teach Spanish for 16 years. He received his Bachelor’s degree from La Salle University and then earned his Master’s degree at Temple University.

In the mid-70’s Bart and Linda purchased a home in Brigantine, New Jersey and fell in love with the island. They moved the family there permanently in 1980. Bart taught Spanish at Holy Spirit High School in Absecon, NJ for eight years and then at Egg Harbor Township High School for another 23 years until his retirement in 2011.

Over these years as a high school educator, Bart had a positive impact on the lives of nearly a half-century worth of students in those formative years of their lives. His compassion, authentic charm, wit, and love of both learning and communicating with people made him the perfect educator. Four decades of young men and women who walked into his Spanish class are also his legacy.

Bart and Linda found a genuine connection with the vast number of people they encountered over their lives that quickly became part of their lives. These included a growing extended family, long-held close friendships of both them and their children, co-workers and neighbors. Their home was always inviting and often filled with people.

Bart loved hanging out with his family, being a “Pop-Pop”, kayaking, body surfing in the ocean, and target shooting at the range. He was an exceptional and creative cook and loved preparing and hosting meals for family and friends. Everyone he knew well will have fond memories of gatherings and delicious meals at Bart and Linda’s. Bart also adored a great cigar and jokes with the guys, dirty martinis, and 1950’s and early 60’s Rock music, especially Doo-Wop.

Following his retirement in 2011, Bart fell in love with a new waterfront community at Las Brisas in Hypoluxo, Florida, where he and Linda became “snowbirds” and enjoyed a very happy retirement for a number of years.

Bart passed early Sunday, peacefully, in the presence of his children and under the loving care of his health providers at The Club at Boynton Beach Memory Care Center, who continue to help care for his beloved Linda.

A Funeral Mass honoring Bart’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1000 W. Lantana Road, Lantana Florida, with Rev. Fr. Eli St. Fort presiding. A New Jersey interment service will also be planned.
