Barbara Derenzo
January 31, 1936 — May 5, 2023
Our loving mother, Barbara DeRenzo, entered into eternal life in the early morning hours on May 5, 2023. Barbara was born on January 31, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York. She was the oldest of four children. She grew up in Bay Ridge where she met and married Donald Roger DeRenzo. They eventually settled in Delray Beach, Florida. Barbara and Donald had three children, Diane, Donald Jude (DJ) and Elise.
Barbara lived her life to the fullest. Barbara loved the Catholic faith and did her best to follow the Good Shepherd, Jesus. She was loving and kind to everyone she met. Barbara and Donald lived on N.W. 18th Street in Delray, and Barbara formed lifelong friendships with many neighbors. Barbara also enjoyed spending days and nights with her family at The Delray Beach Club. Barbara loved working at Garden Travel and Gulfstream Travel. Thanks to her job as a travel agent, she was fortunate to travel extensively throughout the world, her favorite destinations being South Africa and Paris. She thoroughly enjoyed her IHOP breakfasts on Thursday mornings for over twenty years with friends. Barbara loved the Miami Heat and Dwyane Wade.
After retiring Barbara enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and continued to travel frequently.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Muriel and John Murphy and her husband, Donald Roger DeRenzo. She is survived by her children Diane (Reed), DJ (Jennifer) and Elise (Nick), her grandchildren, Caleb, Chloe (Ben), Dietrich, Jude and Neve, her sister Muriel, and her brothers, Jack and Patrick.
Barbara loved Our Trinitarian God, Father, Son and Spirit, Mary and all the Saints especially Saint Jude. May Barbara’s beautiful soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace, Amen.
Visitation will be held at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home in Boynton Beach on Wednesday, May 17th from 5:30-7:30 P.M.
Funeral will be held at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Delray Beach on May 18th at 11:00A.M.
