Barbara M. Miller
Barbara “Babs” M. Miller went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 5, 2016. Babs was born on November 19, 1927 in Miami, FL to Beatrice (Messier) and William J. McCarthy. Babs graduated from Miami High and Florida State College for Women. After an early career in retail marketing and raising seven children, she returned to the classroom and received her Masters in Education from FAU. She had a full career with The Palm Beach County School District, ultimately retiring as Assistant Principle at Palm Beach Public.
As a freshman, Babs joined the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, where she made many life-long friends whom she continued to spend time with at pizza parties, Tropada Club, summers at The Breakers, multi-family barbecues, and ALWAYS bridge! Babs was also a member of The Junior League of The Palm Beaches, where she was involved with many volunteer projects and groups. In recent years, Babs was a member of PEO, an international club that supports education.
Above all else, Babs’ loves were her friends, her family, and her faith. She will be missed dearly by her children Patty Miller-Andrews (William), Katherine Kern, Bobbye Sue Privett (Mal), Billy Miller, and Michael Miller; grandchildren Janine LaRusso Stella (Roy), Kelly Kern, Jonathan Privett (Amber), Katie Beth Privett, and Amanda Privett; and great-grandchild Pepper Rose Privett. Babs was predeceased by husband George E. Miller, Jr and daughters Peggy Miller LaRusso and Christie Bruzdowski (Bill).
Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 4:30 PM on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016 at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, corner of US Hwy. #1 & NE 15th Ave., Boynton Beach. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10935 S. Military Trail, Boynton Beach. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Babs’ memory to be made to TrustBridge Health, Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407 or St. Thomas More Church, Boynton Beach.
