She’s cremated, and the family will celebrate her life at a later time; in Florida and again in Michigan, then spread her ashes with dad in the North Channel.
At 97.5 years, Anne had a great life. Born in Saginaw Michigan raised in Detroit. Met Robert W. just after high school, then Married him after he was drafted for WW-II. Had 4 children, 1943 -1956. In ‘52 moved to Farmington. In 60’s got her BA from Wayne State, with Phi Beta Kappa. Boated on all the inland lakes till ‘62. Then came the 32’ Chris Craft and the lower Detroit River & eastern Lake Erie. In 1971 moved to the 41’ Bounty Sailboat and cruised upriver, joined the Detroit Yacht Club, started racing including the big ones to Mackinaw Island. They circumnavigate all of Lake Huron, North Channel, & Georgian Bay, numerous times plus did a little bit of NE Lake Michigan, and SE Lake Superior. In 1979 Dad retired 39 years from GM; upgraded to a 42’ Whitney, cruising sailboat and later went out the St. Lawrence seaway and down the Eastcoast. In ‘86 sold Farmington took up in Punta Gorda FL, with the boat out back. But mom had to care for our heart diseased dad, till he couldn’t hang on anymore, ‘95. Hurricane Charley ripped open that home, ‘04, so we move her east to near Patti’s. Where she was great help with the grand kids, and enjoyed all the great grandkids, 19 soon to be 20. As she is known as GGMa.
