Anita Stein Hirsh passed away peacefully at age 91 on August 1, 2020, in Aventura, Florida. She was born on December 30, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY, to Molly (Freeman) and David Holland. Her sister Sarah (“Sooky”) followed 7 years later. Molly and Dave were told Sooky’s health would improve if they lived in Florida so they moved to Miami in 1944.

Anita felt she was in heaven. She attended Miami Beach High School and met Harry Stein who was visiting his grandmother after serving in WWII as a ball turret gunner. They married in December 1946 and relocated to Harry’s hometown of Baltimore, MD where they raised a family of 4 children: Martin, Barbara, Warren, and Lori.

Harry thought he wouldn't survive each war mission which gave him a passion to live life to the fullest. Anita always had a radiant smile, she was elegant and vibrant, young at heart and tirelessly pursued all she enjoyed in life. Together they loved traveling worldwide, visiting museums, cultural sites, and their children, who inherited their "travel bug". They went to Brazil and Hong Kong to visit Lori, Martin in Israel and Barbara in Canada. Warren traveled and worked as a Merchant Marine for 12 years. Anita always wanted to return to live in Florida and in 1985 they retired to Boynton Beach, FL where they made many friends and volunteered in hospitals. Married for 51 wonderful years, sadly Harry passed away in 1997.

At a support group for bereaved spouses, Anita met Nathan (“Nat”) Hirsh, also from Baltimore. They married in 2000 and were happy together for 17 years going on many cruises. Sadly Nat passed away in 2016. To be closer to Lori in Miami, Anita moved into a beautiful apartment in an ALF in Aventura. She was fortunate to have her devoted daughter participate in and manage her well-being.

Anita is sorely missed by her family and friends. She is survived by sons Martin (Ruth) and Warren (Beatrice), daughter Lori (Victor), grandchildren Deborah, Jonathan, Marni, and David, and great-grandsons Daniel, Ethan, and Benjamin.
