AMELIA E. POHL
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our mother, Amelia Emily Pohl, 93. Amelia died away peacefully at the hospice care center in Delray Beach, Florida on October 16, 2024. Amelia was born in New York City, New York on July 29, 1931, the second of five children to Sophie and Louis Ovidio Adinolfi. She married Lucien Francois Argentin. They had two daughters, Louise Lucas and Marguerite (Margo) Bosche. Amelia has four grandchildren, Harold Bosche, Frank Lucas, Stephanie Graham, and Andrew Lucas. She also has six Great Grandchildren; Gabriel, Daniel, and Harold Bosche, Julia and Siena Lucas, and Claire Graham. Amelia was preceded in death by her mother, father, her sister Ann and brother Paul. She joins her husband, Joseph William (Bill) Pohl, in eternal life.
Amelia’s education included a Bachelor’s Degree from Hunter College in New York. She went on to receive a Master’s Degree from Adelphi College in Long Island, New York and then culminated her education by receiving a Juris Doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University, Florida. She also completed a Real Estate License in Florida. In her later years, she became an Artist.
Amelia’s careers included being a mathematics teacher at East Meadow High School in East Meadow, New York. She also taught at Bowie High School in Bowie, Maryland. Lastly, she was a Professor at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Maryland. After years of teaching, Amelia then obtained a Real Estate license. She became a Commercial and residential Real Estate Broker and owner of Executive II Realty in Boca Raton, Florida. In her later years, she became a Lawyer specializing in Elder Law. During her career days, she authored many books, including books about math, stocks, desserts, law, and religion. She also wrote books for children.
When Amelia turned 80 years of age, she found a passion for art. She began creating art with oil, charcoal, and glass. Amelia’s subjects, in her years as an artist, were abstracts, portraits, and still life. Her passion in her later years was 3D landscapes. Amelia often said that it was the “Holy Spirit” that guided her to create religious paintings and to write a religious book, “My Journey of Faith Thru Art”.
Amelia also had numerous hobbies. Her hobbies included a love of cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, crocheting, embroidery and more. She also made a sidewalk out of cement in the first house that she owned.
Amelia and her husband, Bill, designed and renovated many houses. She also designed and made Halloween outfits and clothes for her daughters. Her love of sewing included clothes for weddings and maternity outfits!
Amelia was a devout Christian who loved her family dearly. She loved attending Mass at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Boynton Beach, Florida. She loved the music and hearing the sermons by all the priests, especially Pastor Harris. When she couldn’t attend church, she would watch mass via live streaming.
A Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10935 South Military Trail, Boynton Beach, Florida on Monday, October 21st at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Amelia’s memory.
