Alice Maud Dacosta Profile Photo
Alice Maud DaCosta, 86 years of age, peacefully passed surrounded by her family on Thursday,
May 9, 2024 due to failing health with a short time of Hospice care at her home in Boynton Beach.
Alice was born February 20, 1938 in Kingston, Jamaica at McDonald Lane to Donald and Rosina
McLennan. Later, Marion McLennan became her step-mother. She was the first daughter of 7 siblings,
two preceded her death. Alice graduated from Immaculate Conception High School. She was a door to
door Sales Distributor for Colgate Palmolive in Kingston, Jamaica, a doll factory production artist for doll
face painting in London, England. She then received her nursing Patient Care Technician (PCT)
certification in Manhattan, New York and worked as a Nanny before moving to Florida in 1970. She
worked at South Miami Hospital caring for patients and also in the Addiction Inpatient Care Program
where she retired after 43 years of service.
Alice married Adwin DaCosta in 1955 and 4 children were born from this union and 1 child prior
for Adwin DaCosta. Alice professed her faith and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was
assured that when this day came to be with her heavenly Father, she would meet again Adwin her Sonny
Boy. She loved attending church with her family. She always enjoyed sharing her day with “every”
detail, events occurring, helping others, spending time with her family, laughing, traveling and sharing
stories of her 60 years of life with Adwin. She loved organizing beach family reunions, sharing her
Jamaican cooked meals and giving various fruits from her garden. No one left her home empty handed.
She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother,
great-great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She never forgot your birthday with a birthday card
and a telephone call singing, Happy Birthday to you! She always thought of others first! “To know her
was to love her”.
Alice had a positive impact on everyone she met in her life. Alice lived by,
“I fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”. 2 Timothy 4:7
Alice leaves to cherish her loving memory (7) Siblings, (5) Children, (13) Grandchildren, (22)
Great Grandchildren and (2) Great-Great Grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
