Patricia King Gill

March 10, 1924 - November 18, 2019

Patricia King Gill passed away in Delray Beach, FL on November 18, 2019. She was 95 years old. Patricia was born on March 10, 1924 in Washington, DC to parents Maurice and Viola King. She grew up in Washington, DC and attended Roosevelt High School. Patricia enlisted in the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service, a division of the U.S. Navy, to free up male personnel for sea duty) during World War ll. She was always very proud to have served our country during this time in history and worked in the Chaplain’s office in Atlantic City, NJ. She was honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class in 1946. Patricia was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton T. Gill, sisters June and Margaret, and brother Clarence. She is survived by her children Randall (Ann) and Dolores Erickson (Eric); her grandchildren Eric, Alex, Patience and Laura; and great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Kate, Anna, Kirsten, Lily, Paradise and Archer. Patricia was a woman of faith and was a member of Wallace Presbyterian Church for over 80 years. In her younger years she sang in the choir, helped with Vacation Bible School, and served in the church nursery for fourteen years. Patricia worked for the Prince George’s County Library System for over 30 years and retired as Librarian for the College Park Library. Patricia treasured her family and friends and made us laugh. She was loving, generous, and known for bringing family and friends together to enjoy life. She loved baking, sewing, traveling, visiting the Washington Zoo, Smithsonian Museums, seeing the cherry blossoms in the springtime, the art of Peter Max, china painting, family genealogy, Swing’s Coffee, Velatis caramels, concerts, parades, her Scottish heritage, books, fountain pens, and she adored her cats. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 7 at 2:00 PM at Wallace Presbyterian Church, 3725 Metzerott Rd, College Park, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to Wallace Presbyterian Church.
