MARILYN SAMMIS HASSUT
Marilyn Sammis Hassut, age 95 of Tavares, Florida, formerly of Boynton Beach, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024.
Marilyn was born on November 9, 1928, in College Point, New York to the late Daniel and Eva Sammis. She attended the local public school and graduated from Flushing High School in Flushing, New York.
Marilyn met and married Fredrick Adam Hassut, after he returned home from his Service in the U.S. Coast Guard. They had 4 children, Fredrick Hassut Jr., Jayne Lynn Szaro, Jeff Daniel Hassut (Deceased) and Gary Michael Hassut. The family moved to South Florida in 1958, living in Dade and Broward Counties. Marilyn worked as a Broward County School Bus Driver, later becoming the South Broward County Supervisor of School Buses.
Marilyn was a loving Mother and Grandmother with an energetic personality and she was a wonderful Catholic role model.
After retirement, she moved to Boynton Beach in Palm Beach County. In ill health, she recently moved to be near her son, Fred Jr. in Tavares where she passed on St. Patrick’s Day.
A Committal Service will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, Florida (Lane #5). Following the Committal Service, Marilyn will be laid to rest with her late husband, Fredrick Adam Hassut.
