Jacquelyn "Jackie" Collins

April 8, 1930 - May 1, 2021

Jacquelyn (Jackie) Collins (LaDuke) age 91, died Saturday, May 1, 2021 in Boynton Beach, FL. Jackie was born in Detroit, MI on April 8, 1930. Jackie graced our world with her beauty, smile and love. God filled her to overflowing – and she poured everything out on others – especially her family. She loved the Lord and shared this love with family, friends, strangers. Jackie made the BEST Apple Pie in the world! True – you can ask anyone – she was known all over the world for this amazing pie. She always had a smile and was the most genuine person you ever met. Not only did she give birth to 8 children, Jackie adopted anyone who needed to know her love. A quote from Jackie’s journal “If we do not look within others, we will miss their beauty as well”. She could cut through everything and see the beauty in everything! Jackie was also a trendsetter. When most mothers stayed home in the late 50’s early 60’s she became a top sales producer for Stanley Home Products. The family left Detroit in the late 60’s to build and open the Alger Hardware & Lumber in Alger, MI. Along with her husband John, they soon added the Alger Passenger House (Ice Cream Parlor & Restaurant), Polaris Snow Mobile Sales as well as a gas station to keep all the children working. The winds then blew them south on another adventure as she and family moved to Sarasota, FL in the mid 70’s. There Jackie worked at Children’s World and in the banking industry until finding her calling as a property manager. Jackie managed House of the Sun, Fisherman’s Cove and Our House at the Beach all on Siesta Key, FL. Jackie is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, John A. Collins in May of 2017. She is survived by her eight children – David (Ann) Collins of Louisville, KY; Timothy (Joyce) Collins of Arcadia, FL; Kenneth (Shirley) Collins of Sarasota, FL; Richard (Penny) Collins of Whitney, TX; Rebecca (Kenneth) Reed of Boynton Beach, FL; Joseph Collins of Sarasota, FL; Mary Jane (Joseph Wynn) of Sarasota, FL and Patrick (Kathy) of Largo, FL. Jackie is survived by 31 Grandchildren, Grandchild #32 Marc Collins preceded her in death; 50 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild. She is also survived by a sister, Therese (LaDuke) Chimner of Michigan and sister-in-law Wilda (Collins) Davis of California; preceding her in death is sister Virgina LaDuke. Also preceding her in death are parents Clyde & Helen (Penoyer) LaDuke; In-Laws Robert and Josephine (James) Collins; son-in-law B. Allen Reeves (Rebecca). Internment Service will be held at 11:30am on Friday, July 2, 2021 at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241. The Celebration of her life will immediately follow afterwards at the Park East Club Clubhouse, 8333 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34238.
