Robert "Bob" T. Hewitt

ROBERT “Bob” T. HEWITT
Bob was born June 28, 1944 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Robert T. Hewitt and Ellen Martha Volgstadt Hewitt. He passed January 2, 2024, at his home in Delray Beach, Florida surrounded by family. Bob was survived by his wife, Janet, three sons Jason, Wesley and Ted, and his late daughter, Leslie. Bob is also survived by his two sisters Peggy Stephens and Nancy Rausch.
Bob & Janet met in Raleigh, North Carolina at Grace Lutheran Church where they later married in 1978. They continued as members of Grace's congregation until moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1980 where they joined Messiah Lutheran Church.
A short hop from Fort Wayne, Bob loved visiting extended family in Louisville, Kentucky and Nolin River Lake in summer months.
He taught the kids water skiing & loved fishing at the dock with his boys and daughter, Leslie. Bob also enjoyed coaching the local baseball team for the boys.
Bob & Janet opened a quick printing franchise in 1982, operating for ten years until moving to Florida. The ultimate dream goal was to retire to warmer weather in South Florida, where the family had spent many vacations at Janet's parents’ home in Delray Beach. Prior to retirement in 2010, Bob worked at the USPS as a rural route carrier. While employed with the postal service, Bob and Janet were able to vacation in their RV around Orlando, the panhandle of Florida, and Kentucky and Fort Wayne areas, often meeting up with family (most recently great grandchildren).
Bob's most cherished activities were often spending annual summer times at Disney World with granddaughter Alexis and Janet's brother, Richie, and his two daughters. Fond memories, loads of pictures & video photos show much fun in and around Orlando to Delray Beach.
Janet and Bob were thankful for their 45 years together. He is and will always be missed and loved by all.
A Private Family Service will be held where Bob is laid to rest at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
