James "Jimmy" Hassan Profile Photo
James (Jimmy) Hassan born to Catherine and William Hassan on June 2, 1935 in Blantyre, Scotland passed away on May 8, 2024. He was one of five children Patrick, Jeannette, Susan and John all of whom have preceded him in death.

Jimmy and his beloved brother, Johnny, were the only two to immigrate to the US. Jimmy came over in 1955 and initially landed in the Boston area where he worked in a shoe factory. He later served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea. When he returned, he relocated to New York City where he met his beloved wife, Bridget Patricia Harten (Patsy) and he began his 20 year career with the New York City Transportation Authority.

Patsy and Jimmy started their family and had two lucky daughters. Margaret and Catherine.

Jimmy was an exemplary husband, father and friend. He embodied the best qualities; unconditional love, strength and unending generosity to those fortunate to have know him.

Jimmy will be remembered by both family and friends for his quick wit and ability to make people smile. He was an artist who enjoyed woodworking, painting, drawing and working with stained glass. He loved all things Scottish and enjoyed watching his favorite sport, soccer, every Saturday and Sunday.

Jimmy especially enjoyed his retirement years in Sterling Village, FL where he met an abundance of friends that became more like family. He filled his days doing odd jobs around the community and playing the spoons with his friends at Finnegan’s.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His absence will leave a huge void in our hearts. He is survived by his beloved wife Patsy, his daughters Margaret Fenton and her husband Matt, Catherine Glynn and her husband Mike and his grandchildren DJ, Ryan, Erin, Tyler, Mikey, Jimmie and Cole, numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
