M.C.P.O CHARLES GEORGE "Charlie" RICHARDSON
age 75, passed away peacefully on November 24th, 2018 in Boynton Beach, FL. Charles was born on January 9th, 1943 in New York City to Robert G. and Eleanor M. Richardson.
Charles enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960, where he served for 27 years. Retiring from active duty in 1987, and transferring to Navy Fleet Reserve, then finishing his Navy career in 1990. During his time in the Navy, Charles graduated from Navy Dive School (Key West, FL) and EOD School (Indian Head, MD) and later became an EOD Instructor. Upon retiring Charles went on to work in the private sector in the UXO field retiring in 2012 after 25 years.
In 1963, Charles met and married Elizabeth (Betty) Rigley, they went on to have 2 children, Charles William (Chuck) and Elizabeth Ann (Missy) and in 2007 Charles became a grandfather to Grandchild Aiden Thomas, with whom he shared a very close bond.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Robert G. and Eleanor M. Richardson, sister Geraldine Krupa, nephew Robert (Bobby) Krupa, in-laws William F. and Anna V. Rigley. He is survived by his wife Betty, son Chuck, daughter Missy, grandson Aiden, sister Ellie, several nieces and nephews, and extended family.
A Committal Service with U.S. Navy Military Honors will be held Friday, February 7, 2020 at 11:30 AM at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, Florida (Lane 3).
